AED – Automatic External Defibrillation
In 1998 there were 47 victims of sudden cardiac arrest, ages 27 – 90 years old, in Hancock County. Forty-six (46) of those victims died because they did not have immediate CPR and defibrillation available. This project involved research and implementing an AED (automated external defibrillator) in Hancock County.
The group had to locate funding and outline an AED action plan. Finally they created a resource book to educate the public about the AED and did purchase an AED for the police department.
